At First Christian Church, we want to continue to learn what it means to love and serve our neighbors well. That is why we have put together a strategy with safety precautions and guidelines for regathering as COVID19 restrictions are lifted. From the recommendations from government agencies, health officials, and conversation with other churches, the leadership of First Christian Church has put together this document in order to be responsible and demonstrate our value of caring for those within our congregation and community. This strategy is broken into three phases with the first phase beginning on July 5th.

Phase 1:

The first phase will be initiated when we can begin to open the building up for people to physically gather again. This will begin on July 5th. We have committed to follow the precautions set in place in this first phase for at least four (4) weeks.

In this phase, we ask you to please wear a mask, but if you don’t have one, we will have masks that you can use.

We will only be offering one (1) service at 10:30a during the first phase (i.e. no Sunday School, Bible Studies, Coffee Hour, etc.).

We will be asking our volunteers to wear gloves during their time of serving, and we ask you to please refrain from hand shaking and use social distance recommendations.

We will continue to use the all-in-one communion cups, and they will be placed in the pews prior to service. This will remove communion prep and multiple hands touching trays and cups.

During this first stage, offering will be handled differently. In an attempt to keep contact of offering plates to a minimum, there will be boxes with slits to place your offerings in (this is for confidentiality and safety). There will not be a specific offering time in the service, but we will encourage you to either participate in giving as you enter and exit.

Social Distancing Measures:

There will be frequent markers set around the church to remind us of the six (6) feet apart guideline. Please find seating throughout the sanctuary that honors the social distancing recommendations.

We will continue to offer online connection and worship opportunities throughout phase 1. If you are at-risk or feel uncomfortable, we invite you to stay home and join us online!

Information about phase two will be posted at a later time.
